October blog feedback and learner response

WWW: I enjoyed your first blog task - we are very pleased that you are continuing your study of Media, it is fantastic when we have students return to us after GCSE. I also admired that you have recognised both strengths and weaknesses that you faced for GCSE Media. Hopefully, we can work on ensuring you are best prepared for remembering terminology and theories for your exams. Let’s hope this A-Level will put you on the path to study Architecture at University.

EBI: Try and develop your exposure to other forms of media such as Newspapers, to ensure you are exposed to a variety of newsworthy content. I admire your honesty that you do not engage with newspapers. With this reflection, try and find news content that is accessible so that you are exposed to newsworthy content.

LR: Complete the reflection questions below:

Reflect on your work in A Level Media so far:

What is your strongest piece of work?

I believe my strongest piece of work is reception theory as i able easily able to see the preferred, negotiation and oppositional readings and apply them.

What is your weakest?

My weakness would be semiotics as i find it difficult to remember all the different theories and word definitions.

What specific skills or knowledge do you need to develop over the rest of the course?

I believe i need to revise all the content learnt in class in order to remember and apply them in other lessons as practise for the exams. I also need to memorise all the theorists and not get their theories confused.
